Competitive ELISA Kit For Detection of Antibodies to Bluetongue Virus

Background:
Detection of group-specific antibodies is important for serodiagnosis, quarantine for disease control programs, and prediction of sero-conversion upon vaccination. An indigenous indirect ELISA (iELISA) is available for the sero-diagnosis of bluetongue. However, an iELISA is less preferred for a multiple-species disease like bluetongue as the assay needs a different anti-species secondary antibody conjugate. The newly developed competitive ELISA (cELISA) described here can detect antibodies to the virus without a species barrier.:
Technology Details:
The bluetongue competitive ELISA kit can detect the group-specific antibodies in multiple species and therefore eliminate the requirement of different anti-species secondary antibody conjugates which is not available for several susceptible species including the wild species. The assay is a potential substitute for the imported foreign kits. Further, the assay has been developed by using recombinant antigen and therefore there is no involvement of live virus.
